Landing its first customer also earned it a multi-million dollar investment, and Danger started work on something different-a device that would be connected, all the time. After a series of events, VoiceStream turned into T-Mobile. Turns out that company, VoiceStream, was on the lookout for a device to try out on its network. According to DeSalvo, a VC partner found a solution to their data problem in a company providing general packet radio service (GPRS). The problem with Peanut, which included a processor from Tamagotchi (yes, that Tamagotchi), was that there wasn’t a good enough wireless infrastructure to transfer data to the device when it wasn’t connected to a desktop. And so the original idea was an extremely low-cost product, something in the physical world that they could give away to users to make them stick to their website.” “The Internet bubble hadn’t burst yet and a lot of the big portal players, like Excite and Yahoo, and the smaller ones like win.com, were trying to come up with ways to make their users loyal to their brand. “It was designed to be an extremely low-cost thing that you could use to carry information with you,” said Danger co-founder Joe Britt during a talk at Stanford in 2004. Not exactly iCloud, but the idea was there. The company developed the Peanut, a small, affordable, nut-shaped device that would attach to a keychain, with the intention of letting people download their information from the Internet using FM radio waves, said Chris DeSalvo, who was recruited to Danger that year, in a post on Medium. had a vision to make data from the Internet accessible to the average person on the go. In fact, the first iteration of what became Danger’s first device was nicknamed “Peanut.” The Sidekick didn’t always have its signature swivel screen, and it didn’t always radiate coolness, especially at its inception. The device’s decade of existence saw it make its way into music videos, commercials, awards shows, a hacking scandal, and on every athlete and A- to B-list celebrity in Tinseltown. The Sidekick Story is a wild one, and if the answer to its success could be split in halves, it would be made up of one half guts and design, and another half expertly executed marketing. The Sidekick became the go-to choice of celebrities and the urban community-and was until physical keyboards went the way of the dinosaurs. It launched an era where technology converged with style, Internet meshed with portability, and carved out a place for portable devices to become a sleek status symbol for youth culture, not just for the suits on Wall Street. It wasn’t the first smartphone, but the Sidekick helped draw a distinct line between what it was (and wanted to be), and what other devices on the market were. While it wasn’t perfect-later versions of the phone came with a low-end camera, and Internet connections could be excruciatingly slow-this was power in your pocket. Today, this type of convenience is standard. Can’t wait to hit up that girl on AIM after school? Now you didn’t have to, because AIM was in your pocket equipped with a QWERTY keyboard you could “kick” out. Sidekick debuted under carrier T-Mobile and popularized the concept of mobile Internet, which became a key selling point for tech companies in the coming decade. After securing $11 million in funding near the end of 2000, it was revealed: The company created what was essentially a miniature computer that fit on your hip. The Danger founders, Andy Rubin, Matt Hershenson, and Joe Britt, wanted to create an “end-to-end wireless Internet solution focused on affordability and great user experience.” How they were going to do that was a mystery then, because they weren’t sure how they were going to do it. Things changed when three former Apple employees formed Danger Research Inc. Palm Pilots, Nokias, Blackberrys, Motorola two-way pagers, and Razrs were the rage then-but the companies behind them weren’t concerned with marketing to young people, the ones who’d surf Yahoo! and AIM chat rooms on a dial-up connected desktop before thinking of saving up their lunch money for a device geared toward the business-centric. The cell phone was still more corporate than it was cool. At the turn of the millennium, we communicated with friends and high school crushes after class by way of desktops and house phones.

That is 7 major events they need to cover with one of them done with this episode so we have 6 scenes left with 7 episodes remaining. The major stuff to cover are the following: the bath with Kotone (we got that here), the stuff with Ayane while they are sleeping, The scene with Kotone outside the school, The sex scene with Ayane, The sex scene with drunk Kotone, The sex scene with Ayane in the locker room, And finally the last sex scene with Kotone in the classroom. Even though we only have 8 episodes that should be enough to cover all the major scenes without skipping anything inbetween. My guess is chapter 18 will be the end point which actually would make sense because the end of that chapter does actually end in a way that would work well for an ending to this show. This is only 8 episodes long so they don’t have a lot to work with but based on how much they managed to cover with this episode I can take a guess on where we might reach. So far with this episode they haven’t made any bad decisions yet either unlike araiya previously which removed stuff. So far this is not only the best of the male aimed r18 shows it is the best one overall. Once the animation starts for the scene you can also see it is far better animated than what we have gotten with the other ones before also. Really hoping they improve some later scenes in the manga as well. The scene itself does have some differences compared to the manga but most of it was for the better by giving better angles. Not only that they actually managed to get to the first sex scene in just the first episode and even better it is of best girl at that. This one looks to have a decent budget to it so these must be getting more and more popular for them to keep improving them. You can instantly tell when watching the episode that the art and animation are far better than anything we have got before with these r18 shows these past few years. After they finish fucking they hear Ayane coming back so she can get her turn in the tub as they see her start to open the door as the episode ends. What a thoughtful and generous gesture! I gave her an address, and she set out to get the peeler that she wanted to send me. The additional blade guard for the latter peeler kept falling off, so it didn't feel like a bonus.A few months ago, I got a message, via Twitter, from a regular blog reader named Kelly. Plus, peels kept getting caught in the space between the blade and the palm piece. We tried two different Chef'n Palm Peelers, the square shape and the teardrop shape, but both felt flimsy and awkward. It turns out there are two standard styles of peeler for a reason, and we rejected the strangely shaped, gimmicky ones early on in our testing. Their performance for these easier-to-peel veggies was on par with the winners, however, the blade was extremely sticky when tested on the block of cheddar. They had a nice sharp blade that made quick work of potatoes and carrots. The Spring Chef and Zulay were nearly identical both in appearance and performance. It was so swift and non-stick in cutting and releasing strips of vegetable peel that it lacked control, flinging the peels across the kitchen and onto the floor. As for the New Soda Big Peeler the wide blade was great for larger produce, but the long narrow handle was uncomfortable and awkward to hold compared to the wide grip of the Kuhn.įor our straight peeler test, we tried out the cousin to the Swissmar Double-Edge Peeler, the Swissmar Curve Peeler. However, if you wanted to use the straight blade peeler instead of the serrated blade, you had to hold it upside down, which felt hazardous and awkward. The 4-in-1 Müeller Y-peeler boasted a corn stripper on the back which worked nicely. Ceramic can be a great material in the kitchen, but when it comes to peelers, no thanks. We also found that ceramic blades go dull faster than their stainless steel counter parts. They were unable to make long, swift cuts on hard cheeses or tougher vegetables, like butternut squash. We recommend sticking with stainless steel blades for your peeler: The Kyocera Ceramic Peelers were some of the worst performers in all of our tests. Ultimately, the Kuhn Rikon won out over these also-great peelers because of what we know about its long-term ability to retain sharpness. They have comfortable handles, are easy to clean, and come in a set with a straight, serrated, and julienne blade. The palm potato peeler, a style in which the blade is under a disk and the cook's finger is placed through a loop at the top, is capable of peeling, yes, but the design is awkward and feels strange in the hand. The peelers we considered the most comfortable were relatively lightweight, but more importantly, had easy-to-grip, ergonomic handles. This means less of the guide’s surface comes in contact with the food, allowing the peeler to glide along more easily. Top-performing peelers have a raised ridge along the front of the guiding blade. This again depends on the second guiding blade. Here we looked at how easily the blade glided along the fruit or vegetable’s surface. The function of the second blade is to guide the first one along-not to cut into the flesh of the vegetable. Performance in this area depends on the position of both blades in relation to each other and how well the peeler rotates. We were looking for a peeler that made shallow cuts to prevent waste and make zesting easy. Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, the expression was used in a number of other TV shows and stand-up comedy specials, including an episode of X-Files (shown below, left) that aired in March 1999, an episode of That 70s Show in July 2000, as well as Dave Chappelle's stand-up special For What It's Worth (shown below, right) and an episode of Rescue Me, both of which aired in September 2004. The first Urban Dictionary definition for “sammich” was submitted on January 3rd, 2003, also nothing that the word is reserved for sandwiches “with connotations of extra goodness.” The Oxford English Dictionary officially recognized “sammich” as a word in May 2011. An explanation of the word was submitted to the writers' community Everything2 in October 2000, which defined "sammich" as a food item made with care and lots of ingredients, making it better than a normal sandwich. "Sammich," a phonetic translation of the word "sandwich," is believed to have made its appearance in a November 1998 Onion article about the life of an office worker written in stereotypical Ebonics. John-John Mackey: When I see a storm front coming, I'm all, "What's up, bitch?!" And the storm is all, "Not, much, Sir." And I'm all, "That's right, bitch! Now, go make me a sandwich!" And you want that kind of confidence in your weatherman! Usage of "Sammich" While predicting an incoming storm, he tells the storm to go make him a sandwich. In the skit, actor Tim Meadows appears as John-John Mackey, a weatherman who tries too hard to be hip by using confrontational language during the delivery of his forecasts. The phrase "go make me a sandwich" was first introduced in a Saturday Night Live skit that aired on December 16th, 1995. If kids are comfortable with it it’s so fun to share drawing of the same subjects done by different artists and talk about how they are the same, yet different. One of the great things about teaching is that you never cease to learn. Add a little watercolor wash on top of your permanent marker for a finishing touch. Just because these blind contour drawings are exercises doesn’t mean we can’t add some color! I actually love the look of drawings overlapping and crossing on and off the page. Since these drawing exercises are so short I love drawing the same object from different angles. Encourage your student to work slowly but not to worry about mistakes. It’s so bright and colorful!Įach contour line drawing that your student does will take no more than a couple of minutes. It’s not specifically a contour drawing lesson but could be adapted to that very easily. A single flower, a piece of fruit, a leaf, a favorite stuffed animal- would all make excellent subjects.ĭrawing something that your student is super familiar with but asking them to look at it in a new light is always fun. But as this blind contour drawing exercise is a lesson meant for kids and meant to be done in a matter of minutes think simple. There are no limitations to what you “could” draw. ( These permanent markers are my favorite because they stay clean and sharp if you want to add a color wash over top!) Using markers also totally eliminates the temptation to try to erase a “mistake.” No erasing! Just looking, and drawing, and keeping on keeping on!Ī contour line drawing can be of anything. I also strongly suggest using markers for this type of drawing. Kids should be free to draw and draw some more as each drawing only take a few minutes. Lightweight, lower quality paper like newsprint is fine for this drawing exercise. This is an exercise to help young artists learn to really look and see. I love the “not looking” aspect of blind contour drawing but sometime it legit stresses kids out. Use whatever form or combination of drawing techniques is most suitable for your student. The artist may occasionally look at their artwork but the focus is still on looking at subject. The line just keeps moving, crossing over itself, and back around without picking your pencil or marker up. (Or whatever you’re drawing.) A continuous contour…Ī continuous contour line drawing focuses on keeping your marker on the paper and slowly moving from one contour onto the next. No more drawing what you “think” you know about flowers. Pick a simple object and ask the kids to really notice each little edge and part. After all, you can’t even see your drawing! Emphasis becomes on really looking at the object and noticing the intricacies of it. The pressure to make your drawing look “just right” is totally gone. I love blind contour drawings for this reason. in fact, if it doesn’t, you probably cheated and looked at your paper! Your kids will giggle until the tears come. A blind contour drawing may look a little weird. This is harder than it sounds because it is so tempting to look at what you’re drawing. Your student looks at and attempts to draw an object’s contours without looking at their paper. My favorite is the blind contour drawing. There are different types of contour line drawing. Encourage kids that although the words may be fancy and the concepts new they’ve actually been doing this all along! (Great job kids!) A blind contour drawing… Kids naturally draw outline type drawings because they are the simplest form of drawing. Lines define every edge of an object with no shading. Sounds simple, right? Contour line drawing is a big concept that is easily introduced even at a young age and packs a big punch in terms of learning to see what is front of you! This quick blind contour drawing exercise is sure to bring giggles and learning!Ī contour drawing is a line drawing.
